If I am asked to define success, I say it is about achieving my life dreams, which might be the most common response. However, in business, success means gaining financial freedom, a steady flow of income or revenue over cost. 

For me, and for many other business aspirants, success is not just about profit. It’s also about the progress and growth of the business. Profit is not the only measure of business growth. It could be innovation, a devoted group of customers, or further development of the business into something new. 

Even after receiving a regular income from QNET direct selling, I only felt successful at the point where I am financially and, in the case of expertise, felt ready to start the next phase in my business career. 

My journey to success was made possible through the QNET business. Direct selling is an incredible option for people willing to work hard. This is particularly true for young business aspirants. Several factors were there to aid me in the business success. However, the most crucial part, I believe, is the passion, focus and commitment.

Here’s how I became a successful businesswoman

I had a passion for business. Trying new things always interested me. To try business was always a plan, but the more I learned about it, the more it grew on me. Being a businesswoman can be challenging. However, it is also many other things. The freedom, skills and decision-making power I had through the business was liberating in every area of my life. 

As we discussed, success cannot be defined based on profit from the business. As a woman in business, it’s about choice, independence and the right rewards. Millions of working women are paid way less to the same job with the same effort than their male counterparts. Business is a career that pays well for one’s ideas and effort. 

Even after facing so many challenges that female entrepreneurs face, the journey was all worth it. This success was possible because of the QNET business. Direct selling is a business industry where the majority of entrepreneurs are women. This created a safe space for women from my generation to grow in business. 

So, how exactly did I get successful in the direct selling business? It’s all about the choices I made. 

Choose the best company: First and foremost, I chose one of India’s best and leading direct selling companies. Joining any company might not get you success. I joined QNET after detailed research and talking with several people who know about business, both QNET direct sellers and other business owners. QNET is an internationally renowned company with a good compensation plan and great work culture. The company’s team spirit and work ethic helped me work with freedom, creativity, and growth. 

I did my research well: Plus, I did not stop at a single detailed study. Continuing the research and learning process can give insights that can help a businessperson to survive any kind of offsets. Knowledge can give a person imagination, ideas and insights. It helped me anticipate the changes in the industry, which aided me to get through periods of uncertainty. 

I learned from my mistake: Being successful does not mean a mistake-free business. But it is the business where mistakes are analyzed lessons are learned and corrected. I lacked many business skills, including marketing and networking; both are crucial in direct selling. However, with the help of other business owners and my team, I learned the core skills.

One thing I wish I had done from the early days of QNET business


We all might have a few regrets in life and about choices made with our careers. In my case, it was not using social media platforms. It might sound simple and silly, but recent studies suggest that digital platforms can increase product sales drastically.

Better late than never, I did develop a social media presence for my business. But I can’t help but think about the impact it might have had on the QNET business, if I used online platforms from the beginning. Social media platforms, if used efficiently, can bring a business prospect to thousands of people in very little time. At least, a small per cent of the number will be interested in the network and more in the products.

My target audience for the QNET were mainly young adults who were still in college or just out of college. I joined the business just after completing my studies. I carried out the business along with my regular job. Now imagine the reach and popularity I could have reached with a strong social media presence.

Being popular is crucial, especially in business. Have you ever noticed the fact that people will always go for a product more familiar to them? Rather than picking something randomly, we spend our money carefully. Popularity can help you out here; the more popular you are on social media, the more familiar the people are with the products and business prospects. To put it simply, by online accounts, you can reach more people and increase product sales.

Provide more product information

Direct or face-to-face marketing is an excellent way for business growth. I have followed this good old way of marketing for my QNET business. With direct marketing, you can build a strong buyer-seller relationship. However, face-to-face marketing is a lot of work. You have to wait for the customers time, need meetings and make a presentations. There will only be a limited time to present products in this busy schedule and target. On the contrary, you can post and share as much product information on social media accounts as you want. It won’t take much of your time or effort either.

Managing a business is not easy, and running a business along with a regular job can be hard. But, if you do business online, it can save you much time, effort and money. Social media has become a gamechanger in my business by saving time. Unlike direct marketing, you do not have to wait for customers, travel to places, and make presentations. Half of this time is only needed to manage online marketing.

There are options for paid promotions on social media. However, it depends on you whether you want it or not. Choosing a paid promotion or partnership won’t cost you a huge sum of money. Low or no advertisement costs make social media accessible to anyone doing the business.

Implementing social media to my business had a huge impact, even if I was late to start it. If you are planning to join QNET or are new to the direct selling business, you should try social media in the promotion.

What I did in the first 90 days after starting QNET direct selling business

First and foremost, the early days are the worst, the coming stages are much better. I felt this way because, I was not a person with a professional training in business. Just out of college, with a regular desk job, I started the QNET business. Taking risks is never discouraging for me, however, starting a business is unlike any other journeys in life. Business takes a lot of effort, time and money. The more you invest, the more you should be careful. Even though, still enthusiastic about the result from business, the initial days started to become more worrisome.

Of course, nobody tells the job is easy. Once I started it, things were different than I imagined. There’s a higher chance of rejection in direct selling. Plus, you might not receive much support from people around you either. Does that mean winning in direct selling is impossible? Absolutely not, you can be successful like thousands of other direct sellers. You just need the skills, plan and rigor to get the work done.

One thing you can do on the early days is to understand you have just started a business and there’s a long way to go. Understanding can help you in many ways. I knew that I had the iron in the fire. Its still in the starting process, and there’s lot to learn, prepare and implement. This knowledge will keep away the discouragement. Most importantly, know that it will take time to get successful, plus hard work and time is essential. Being patient while working on to make the first step is exactly what you should do in the early days of QNET business.

  1. In the first couple of weeks, I came to a decision not to rush or hurry myself in the business. Even though the prospect of profit from product sales and network were very attractive, the plan is to take each step with precision and patience. So, I started going with other QNET business owners in their marketing and networking meeting. I haven’t introduced the business or products to anyone yet at that point. But learned how these business leaders communicate with the customers.
  2. I did a detailed market research before I joined the direct selling. After joining and getting familiar with business, I resumed my research on the industry. I learned about the industry, its future, marketing techniques, business skills, and customers, but this time, from the perspective of a businesswoman. 
  3. During my research, I came across of lot of blogs and articles written by direct sellers and other people in business. One thing they all had in common was the advice to set a well-defined strategy. It is obvious to anybody that strategy is indeed important to business. A great strategy is the very core of a business, it contains the vision and mission, every single goal, and the success of a business is truly determined by it. So, I developed a short term and long-term strategy for my business.
  4. Like I said before, I do not have a business degree or professional training. I was partially confident in communication. However, marketing and networking seemed as a big deal. Along with joining meeting of other direct sellers, I started taking free online tutorials to learn business skills.
  5. After two months, I started introducing products to customers. By this time, I had already set my target audience, they were majority young adults. As a young woman, I knew the trends, preferences and interests of my potential customers. Not that people joined the business quickly or bought my products, there where a lot of them who are genuinely interested in business.

The initial days was entirely learning business, skills, industry and target audience. It helped me build a good strategy. Even though there was no kind of income I started receiving, once I completed the first 90 days in business, products sales went up, and people started showing interest. Almost three months in business with no income seems discouraging for some people. However, I was still in the process of developing my QNET direct selling, and the preparation at this phase helped in the next level to gain a reasonable profit.

So, if you are a person who joined and not just started receiving any profit, no need to lose heart. You can use the initial days to work on your skills and knowledge. In the next phases, success is guaranteed.
